Roscommon Equine Services is Michelle and Denis Ridley of Braidwood NSW.
Michelle Ridley, nee Taylor, has been associated with horses since she was a child. Michelle's education has been focused in acquiring the skills necessary to have a career in the horse industry. Upon completion of a two year horse breeding course at Wangaratta TAFE, Michelle received a scholarship to attend the Irish National Stud Horse Course in Ireland for six months. She was one of two Australian students to attend the course out of twenty one international students.
Once in the horse industry workforce, Michelle's experiences have been wide from pre training and trackwork with Thoroughbred racehorses, broodmare care and breeding, foaling, weaning, yearling preparation and sales, starting youngsters under saddle and stallion management.
In her leisure time Michelle would compete with her homebred horses in a range of competitions from Polocrosse, eventing, showjumping, dressage, showing, sporting, campdrafting and carriage driving.
In recent years, since leaving the thoroughbred industry, Michelle's focus has been on producing a quality performance and pleasure horse through her Australian Stockhorse Stud and providing a service to fellow horse enthusiasts through the Equine Services. Michelle also is a Horse Industry teacher with TAFE Illawarra, based in Goulburn NSW.
A recent addition to Roscommon is Michelle's husband Denis. Denis is a keen Clydesdale and carriage man. Since Denis's arrival there has been a steady increase in these gorgeous furry footed equines. Roscommon Carriages came into fruition out of the Clydesdales arrival, with a loyal fan club when they are out in public.
Both Michelle and Denis are always keen to expand on their skills and explore new methods of training and educating horses. They readily attend clinics by notable horsemen and women. Both recently completing a certificate in carriage driving with Gary Rollans.
